True Remembrance

Genuflected by Raf

True Remembrance by Shiba Satomi

Description:
A great visual novel by Shiba Satomi and English localized by insani. True Remembrance is a tale of two poeple on a world where the primary cause of death is suicide due to the sickness characterized by so-called experts as the Dolor. A heart warming story about memories, past, choices, and love. True Remembrance is a straight forward Visual novel 'coz of having only a single path. Released in 2004, it is one of the most highly regarded freeware visual novels aside Narcissu, Christmas Eve, Dream Girl, and so on and so forth.

It is a >6 hour reading if your literate enough and I know you do. You can even do this in 3 hours if you want. True Remembrance is a very touching story and is a nice read, it's not boring even if you read it up to 2-3 times 'coz the settings, objects, and characters are so perfect and realistic, you can feel the emotions and every feelings they convey. Give regards to Shiba satomi and insani.org for bringing us this wonderful work.

Story (spoiler-free):
The story is about Blackiris, an alpha Mnemonocide, a type of human who can manipulate memories. Living in the City where memories die, countless patients keep on coming inside to be treated, and The mnemonocides are the one who have to treat them, Blackiris is not an exception. The story starts by Blackiris welcoming his new patient, a gray haired little girl named La, who is positive for Dolor and need to be treated by an alpha class Mnemonocides. And so our story begins.

Akatsuki no Goei by Syangrila

Description:
Akatsuki no Goei is an eroge visual novel published by Syangrila on march-april 2008. This game is a visual novel focused on a story about a bodyguard protagonist. It has a school setting like most VN and features a rich heroine, a maid one, shy ones, and twins... and they are all virgins ^^. It is on a ADV mode meaning the text is usually located below with a special stylized box.

Story (spoiler-free):
The story takes place in a little bit future. The police has no control and a lot of crimes happen here and there. To deal with this problem, the government establishes a bodyguard training school. Kaito, the main character, enters it and becomes a bodyguard through hard training. On the last day of school, other students look happy, but he doesn't. "I'll hire you as my bodyguard. Good luck," she just says arrogantly. "What...?" Her atmosphere really makes him think.... He just wants to protect her....

Kagetsu Tohya

Genuflected by Raf

Kagetsu Tohya (歌月十夜)
Twilight Grass Moon, Fairy Tale Princess

Kagetsu Tohya is a fandisk for the famous Tsukihime by Type-moon and is released on way back August 2001. Compared to Tsukihime, this one is considered harder to play and might require some preseverance if you want to see all the scenes and graphics. But it is still a lot of fun and it's really addicting on its own way and I highly recommend it for VN lovers. And it still got some erotic scenes which you can enable/disable at your first time of running it.

Running on Onscripter again, Kagetsu Tohya have many additions like new background musics, new Cg's, and new stories. The main point of the story is that, your Shiki Tohno, and unconciously, your going through loops and loops of dreams given by someone (don't want to tell who, SPOILER) and that everyday of it is an exact repetition of the past day. Kinda like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, your stuck in an endless dream in which everyday is no different than yesterday and your goal is to make the right choices to get the endings you desire. Of course, it requires trial and error to know the right decisions you might take. After each day, a message REPEAT AGAIN... will be displayed, that just means you need to start the day again by going to the "START GAME" and starting a new game. Things from your previous games will affect the layout and the happenings in your next game so Saving isn't really helpful unless your going to stop midway while playing. After each REPEAT AGAIN... messages, you'll notice changes on the game the next time you Start a new game, and sometimes through pure luck, special scenarios might appear on the "Start Game" choices.

Pretty simple eh? Just keep making choices, and unlock new mysteries and scenes. This is a non linear type of VN so you don't have to follow a specific choice and just play the game the way you want it to play. Choose your own adventure and act like your Shiki Tohno and be the Shiki Tohno you want to be. I loved it, you'll loved it too. Let's get tactical. That's all folks.

It is translated to English by Beast Lair and the patch is available for download.

A download link (of course!) is located below, along with some links for you to visit. Make sure to visit and support the guys who are responsible for bringing us this wonderful addition to our collection. If you got some questions, feel free to comment or download, ja ne!

Tsukihime

Genuflected by Raf

Tsukihime 月姫 (Lunar Princess)by Type-moon

Tsukihime is a Japanese eroge doujin visual novel by Type-moon and was released way back on 2000 winter comiket. Though being a doujin game, it's impact to the otaku world is huge, evolving the anime's and mangas as what we are seeing now. Kinoko Nasu's Story telling became renowned with this release due to his intricate and unique way of suspending and trilling the readers. Tsukihime is known as one of the best visual novels ever made, even though the art is not that good, the music and the storyline will keep you in touch.

The whole story is about Shiki Tohno, a normal high school student (or so you think) who got in a terrible car accident in his childhood. Though he was supposed to die, he miraculously survived, but in exchange to this, he starts seeing lines and dots everywhere and in everything. Upon suspecting, by tracing this lines, he can cut anything as easy as cutting a paper. This is revealed to him as the mYstic eyes of death perception and thus the start of Shiki Tohno's struggle in a world field with vampires, exorcist, and mysteries.

There are 2 routes all in all. The first route is the "Near Side of the Moon" which is divide into Arcuied and Ciel's route. The second route is the "Far Side of the Moon" which is divided into Akiha, Hisui, and Kohaku route.

Mirror Moon made a translation project of Tsukihime making it available for the English speaking community. So please give regards and drop by their forums to say thanks. you can download the English patch by going to their website (you can find it at the links below), and browsing Tsukihime.
